Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Y.Ambrazevich participates in commemorative events on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster

On April 26, 2024 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Yuri Ambrazevich, took part in the ceremony of laying floral tributes at the memorial signs “Victims of Chernobyl” and “Hiroshima Peace Stone”.

The ceremony was dedicated to the International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day, which was established in 2016 in accordance with the UN General Assembly resolution 71/125 “Persistent legacy of the Chernobyl disaster”, initiated by the belarusian side.

The Republic of Belarus is taking consistent actions to overcome the consequences of the Chernobyl accident and prevent similar disasters in the future.

The Belarusian state constantly interacts with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as with interested countries and international institutions, both on minimizing the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and on the use of peaceful nuclear energy.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus calls on all States to cooperate openly, equally and responsibly in radiation safety issues.
