Commemorative event at the Khatyn memorial complex

On March 22, 2024 the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, visited the Khatyn memorial complex to pay tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of those tragic events on the Belarusian land.

The delegation of the Belarusian diplomats together with the representatives of other republican bodies, public associations, organisations and non-indifferent citizens took part in the ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame and observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims.

Foreign Minister S.Aleinik stated, that "Khatyn is a nominal symbol of horror and suffering of the peaceful population, sorrow of the whole Belarusian people and their memory of the innocent victims of horrendous atrocities. Each such historical fact is a fragment of our reality, a reminder to us all of the challenges we face today in preserving the fragile peace. In the period of restructuring of the international security architecture, ongoing armed conflicts, the current extreme degree of confrontation and mutual distrust, it is especially important to preserve our historical memory".

The annual laying of hands opened a series of events in preparation for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from Nazi invaders.
