Belarus and Uzbekistan

 

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan were established on January 21, 1993. The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Uzbekistan was opened in February 1994. The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus began work in March 2018.

The legal framework of bilateral cooperation currently contains more than 70 international agreements and documents.

Belarus and Uzbekistan maintain an active political dialogue and interact constructively on international platforms. On a regular basis, visits are exchanged at high and top levels, meetings of the presidents and prime ministers of Belarus and Uzbekistan are held, including within the framework of the SCO, the CIS, the eurasian integration.

In September 2018, the President of the Republic of Belarus Lukashenko A.G. paid an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan. On July 31 – August 1, 2019 the President of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev Sh.M. paid an official return visit to the Republic of Belarus.

In 2023 a number of meetings took place between the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G.Lukashenko and the President of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev Sh.M within the framework of multilateral events.

In July 2023, consultations between the foreign ministries of Belarus and Uzbekistan at the level of deputy ministers took place in Minsk.

In September 2023, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Narbayeva T.K. paid an official visit to the Republic of Belarus. She held meetings with the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G.Lukashenko, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus N.I.Kachanova, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus R.A.Golovchenko. The First belarusian-uzbek women’s business forum was held during the visit.

In December 2023, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus R.A.Golovchenko paid a working visit to Uzbekistan (Samarkand).

As part of the visit an belarusian-uzbek business forum was held in Samarkand.
In December 2023, the tenth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Samarkand.

Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan is actively developing. Currently, over 200 enterprises with Belarusian capital are registered in Uzbekistan, and over 100 joint belarusian-uzbek enterprises are located on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

In September 2023, the Cinema days of the Republic of Belarus were held in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In November 2023, the First belarusian-uzbek medical forum was held in Minsk.
