On the Session of the CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council

On October 24, 2013 the session of the CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council took place in Minsk.
The Heads of the delegations that took part in the session discussed the issues regarding the development of interaction in the sphere of security and struggling against violation of law, cooperation in the humanitarian, cultural and tourist spheres.
The Heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the CIS approved draft programs of cooperation in the struggle against terrorism and other manifestations of violent extremism for 2014-2016, against illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as their precursors, combating narcotic addiction for 2014-2018 and trafficking in persons for 2014-2018, as well as Intergovernmental program on joint efforts in struggling crime for 2014-2018.
The parties considered and backed the draft Agreement on the establishment of the Intergovernmental Council on struggling against corruption.
The Heads of the delegations discussed the issues of the realization in 2014 of the intergovernmental program “Cultural capitals of the Commonwealth” in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, approved draft Strategy of the development of cooperation between the CIS members in the sphere of tourism for the period until 2010.
The agenda of the session included the issues of providing assistance to youth initiatives within the Commonwealth. The sides approved the Plant of action for 2014-2015 on the implementation of the Strategy for the development of the international youth cooperation in the CIS until 2020.
During the session the parties also discussed providing support to the veterans, preparation for the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, approved the draft decision on declaring 2015 the year of the Great Patriotic War veterans and anniversary rewards, as well as Plan of Action on the preparation and celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory.
