Today’s EU Council conclusions in fact freeze the relations between Belarus and the European Union at the level that objectively cannot satisfy any of the sides.
Belarus will not yield to the pressure. We think that such EU policy is not compatible with good and neighbourly relations. It is only by moving toward each other that we can overcome the existing controversies.
We encourage the European Union to abandon its sanctions-based mentality and make an effort, in its turn, to restore the atmosphere of mutual trust.
The Belarusian side declares itself willing in principle to pursue constructive and mutually respectful dialogue with the EU and stand ready to engage with the EU toward this end.
