On 5 November, 2012 the Belarusian delegation took park in the discussion of the report of IAEA within the framework of UN General Assembly.

Mr.Evgeny Lazarev, Deputy Head of the Department for Multilateral Diplomacy of MFA of Belarus, confirmed that Belarus supports IAEA which is the leading organization that contributes to the peaceful and safe use of nuclear energy for the purposes of sustainable development.
Mr.Evgeny Lazarev marked that Belarus pays much attention to nuclear security when realizing the national nuclear energy programme. He pointed out that security of the future Atomic Power Station is the priority of the country. Belarus strictly follows IAEA regulations and standards which was confirmed by IAEA Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure mission to Belarus conducted in June 2012.
Mr. Evgeny Lazarev stated that Belarus fulfills its obligations under the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and Agreement on the Application of Safeguards. Belarus considers that it is important to develop a system of safeguards that includes Additional Protocol as a standard for the verification of the activities.
