The second day of participation of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus I.Secreta in the meeting of the Group of Friends in Defence of the Charter of the UN

On April 15, 2025 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Secreta, continued his work in Moscow at the Third Meeting of National Coordinators of the Member States of the Group of Friends in Defence of the Charter of the United Nations.

On the second day of the event, the national coordinators discussed such topical issues on the international agenda as the manifestation of neo-colonialism in international relations, the use by some countries of unilateral coercive measures circumventing the authority of the UN Security Council against sovereign and independent states, and the prospects for settling the situation in the Middle East. The programme of activities of the Group of Friends for 2025 was also discussed.

The meeting resulted in the adoption of political declarations on key issues on the international agenda.

On the sidelines of the event, I.Secreta held working meetings with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Kazem Gharib Abadi, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Zimbabwe, Sheillah Chikomo, and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Gerardo Peñalver Portal.

Joint steps to implement the agreements reached during the visits of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 2023, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus in 2022 and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus in 2022 to Iran were discussed with the Iranian side. The issues related to the preparation of reciprocal visits of Iran's leadership to Belarus were discussed. Attention was paid to the work of the Joint Belarusian-Iranian Commission on Cooperation in the field of Higher Education, Science and Technology.

The conversation with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Zimbabwe focused on the implementation of flagship projects of bilateral cooperation, including the Zimbabwe Farm Mechanisation Programme, which is personally patronised by the leaders of the two countries, the creation of assembly plants of Belarusian vehicles, the supply of pharmaceuticals to the country, the training of Zimbabwean students for the development of national science and technology.

Preparations for the next meeting of the Belarusian-Cuban Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which is aimed at elaborating significant bilateral economic projects, were discussed with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba. In the context of the preparation of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus, cooperation between the two countries in international organisations was also discussed.
