On September 27, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Martynov delivered a speech within the general debate of the 66th UN General Assembly session.

The Belarusian Foreign Minister met with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Sha Zukang. During the meeting the sides discussed issues of cooperation between Belarus and the UN in economic and social spheres. Particular attention was paid to the prospects of cooperation in such areas as development assistance to middle-income states and the establishment of mechanisms to provide access to technologies allowing the use new and renewable sources of energy. The participants of the meeting exchanged views on approaches to address priority issues of sustainable development.
Sergei Martynov also held bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Azerbaijan, Syria, Venezuela, Andorra. The sides discussed the issues of bilateral relations and international agenda.
