On the Participation in the 51st Session of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

On November 13, 2013 the combined 4th, 5th and 6th periodic reports of the Republic of Belarus on the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights have passed consideration by the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights during its 51st session.
The Belarusian delegation was headed by Mr.Yuri Ambrazevich, Head of the Directorate for Multilateral Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Representatives of the Ministries of Justice, Education, Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection have also taken part in the consideration of the periodic reports.
Committee’s members have taken note with appreciation of the Belarus’ ongoing efforts to promote and protect economic, social and cultural rights, as well as its level of social assistance for the population, commended Belarus for its initiatives and achievements in combating trafficking in human beings.
Building on the outcomes of the report the Committee will make its concluding observations to the Belarusian side. Belarus is to report by the next reporting cycle on their implementation.
