On the Participation of the Belarusian Delegation in the UN GA Discussion on Ensuring the Rights of Refugees

On November 8, 2013 during the discussion of the UN General Assembly on the issues relating to the situation of refugees Ms.Tatsiana Leshkova, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affair of the Republic of Belarus, informed the international community on the efforts made by the Belarusian government to ensure the rights of refugees.

Ms.T.Leshkova noted that Belarus actively cooperates with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Representative of Belarus stressed the necessity for the UNHCR to expand technical assistance to the UN Member States and to strengthen cooperation of UNHCR with donors.

Belarusian diplomat urged the UNHCR to intensify its capacity in preventing trafficking in persons and protecting its victims and actively participate in the implementation of the UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons.
