On Participation in the XXIV Session of UN Human Rights Council

On September 9-27,2013 the Belarusian delegation headed by Mr. Mikhail Khvostov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the UN office in Geneva, takes part in the XXIV Session of UN Human Rights Council.
During the discussion with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mr. Mikhail Khvostov emphasized the need for the settlement of the conflict in Syria through negotiations. The head of the Belarusian delegation welcomed the determined efforts of a number of countries to resolve the Syrian conflict by political and diplomatic means and stressed the need for strict adherence to the Charter of the United Nations.
The Belarusian delegation noted that the UN Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights disregards human rights violations in some countries of the West, in particular rights to freedom of expression of opinion and rights of privacy.
