On the Multilateral Consultations on CIS Issues

On February 14, 2014 the consultations between the foreign services of the Commonwealth of Independent States member-countries on CIS multilateral cooperation took place in Kiev.

The representatives of 8 member-countries of the Commonwealth and CIS Executive Committee took part in the event.

During the discussion on the efficiency of CIS member-countries collaboration Mr.Ruslan Esin, Deputy Head of the Division for Eurasian Integration of MFA, marked the necessity to enhance coordination of actions between the CIS partners on the international arena, as well as to establish interregional and near-border cooperation.

In the framework of the consultations the parties resumed the collaboration of the CIS member-countries foreign services in 2013, considered the draft Plan of consultations between foreign services for 2014.

The sides exchanged views on the preparation of the documents on cooperation in the humanitarian and economic spheres. The parties discussed the application of the Ukrainian amendment to the Protocol altering the Agreement on Rules for Determining Country of Origin of Goods in CIS as of November 20, 2009.

In the context of preparation for the celebration of 70th anniversary of the liberation from Nazis in some CIS member-countries the Belarusian party drew attention of foreign services representatives to the importance of this event and informed on the festivities that are planned to be held in Belarus.

The participants of the consultations also discussed the preparation for the Session of the CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council, which is planned to be held on April 4, 2014 in Moscow.
