On Belarus-Spain Consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs

On March 11, 2014 Belarus-Spain consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs took place in Madrid.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Ms.Alena Kupchyna, the Spanish – by Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Mr.Gonzalo de Benito.

Mr.Pavel Latushko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France and Spain (concurrently) took part in the consultations from the Belarusian side.

Within the consultations the parties discussed the current issues of bilateral relations, Belarus-EU interaction, including within Eastern Partnership Initiative. Special attention was paid to the development of Belarus-Spain cooperation in the sphere of trade and investments, in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
 
The sides agreed to realize a number of steps aimed at the expansion of bilateral cooperation. In particular, the parties agreed to make presentations of the economy of Belarus in Madrid and Barcelona in the first half of 2014, as well as hold a number of cultural events in Spain.

Within the visit Ms.Alena Kupchyna had a meeting with the Secretary of State for trade of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain Mr.Jaime García-Legaz. During the meeting the parties discussed trade, economic and investments cooperation, as well as the development of the legal framework in this spheres.
