On the Session of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between the Government of Belarus and the Government of the United Arab Emirates

On April 24 – 25, 2013 the 1st session of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between the Government of Belarus and the Government of the United Arab Emirates took place in Minsk.

The Belarusian part of the Joint Committee was headed by Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Emirati – by Mr.Anwar Gargash, State Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the session the members of the Emirati delegation held negotiations with the officials of the ministries, agencies and enterprises of Belarus. The parties discussed the possibility of realization of joint projects in manufacturing industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals industry, science, culture and tourism. The parties marked the importance of developing cooperation between the banks of the two countries, which is the basis for further development of interaction in the sphere of investments. The Emirati side was particularly interested in water production and exports, Belarus water purification technologies.

Following the results of the session the parties signed the Protocol of the 1st session of the Joint Committee.

On April 25 Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, and Mr.Anwar Mohammed Gargash, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on mutual exemption of visas for holders of diplomatic passports.

Mr.Alexander Zapolski, Deputy Director of the National Centre for Marketing and Price Study of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, and Mr.Shaheen Ali Mohamed Shaheen, Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of U.A.E Chambers of Commerce and Industry, signed the Memorandum of Understanding between National Centre for Marketing and Price Study and Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Mr.Vyacheslav Reut, First Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr.Shaheen Ali Mohamed Shaheen, Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of U.A.E Chambers of Commerce and Industry, signed Memorandum of Understanding between Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
