On the Familiarization Tour for the Representatives of the Administrative Divisions of the CIS Countries-Members

On September 30 and October 1, 2013 within the familiarization tour to Belarusian regions for the representatives of the administrative divisions of the CIS countries-members the representatives of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Turkmenistan and Ukraine visited the City of Minsk and Grodno region.

During the meeting with the First Deputy head of the Minsk Executive Committee Mr.Vladimir Kuharev and the head of the City Council Mr.Vasiliy Panasiuk the parties discussed the ways of developing cooperation between twin-cities of the CIS. The sides marked the necessity of strengthening interaction between the regions within the CIS.

Within the familiarization tour the participants visited Republican Organ and Tissues Transplantlogy Center, Correction and Developmental Teaching and Rehabilitation Center, National Library, Minsk-Arena.

During the visit to Grodno region the national delegations met with the head of Grodno Regional Executive Committee Mr.Semen Shapiro. Within the meeting the parties discussed cooperation between Grodno region and the regions of the CIS countries-members, the functioning of the euroregion Neman, as well as further expansion of interregional trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation.

The representatives of the CIS countries studied the experience of the euroregion “Neman” Coordinating Office, Free Economic Zone “Grodnoinvest”, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, agrotouristic complex Karobchytsy.

During the visit to Grodno region the representatives of the national delegations from CIS countries marked that the experience of Belarusian administrative divisions within euroregion “Neman” could be used during the discussion of the possibilities of creating trans-border region “Commonwealth”, including the preparation of the relevant intergovernmental program.

On October 2 – 4 the participants of the tour will continue studying the experience of Vitebsk region within the euroregion “Ozerniy Krai”.
