Government delegation of Colombia visits the Republic of Belarus
07 October 2011Delegation of Colombia, headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Patti Londoño Jaramillo, will pay a visit to the Republic of Belarus on October 9 to 11.
The program of the visit includes meetings in the ministries of foreign affairs, industry, construction and architecture, energy. The Colombian delegation will also visit the largest exporters and higher education institutions of the Belarusian capital.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Martynov plans to meet with the delegation.

Note:
Colombia with its population of 45 mln is a promising partner for Belarus in South America. The countries actively cooperate in the UN, Non-aligned Movement and other international organizations.
Currently, bilateral trade between the two countries is not large, however, it rapidly increases. Bilateral turnover increased by 17 times during 2005-2010.
Potash and nitrogen fertilizers are the basis of Belarus exports to Colombia. Shipments of Belarusian tires are increasing. Sugar, bananas and flowers traditionally prevail in the Belarusian imports from Colombia.
In January — August 2011 bilateral trade between Belarus and Colombia amounted to US$ 78.6 million (177.1% to the same period in 2010), Belarusian exports were US$ 73.0 million (240.6%), imports were US$ 5,6 million (39.9%).
In 2011 the sides have increased the activity of contacts aimed at organizing supplies of Belarusian industrial products to this country. The Colombian side demonstrates interest in buying Belarusian dump trucks, cargo, passenger and agricultural machinery and equipment. Several pilot projects were implemented in mid-2011 to ship Belarusian trucks and tractors to Colombian consumers. A trolleybus of JSC ‘Belkommunmash’ was shipped to Columbia for tests.
