On the Publication of the Global Report on Trafficking in Persons

On December 10, 2012 the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) published the Global Report “Trafficking in Persons: Global Models”, which is the first thematic report on trafficking in persons prepared by the international organization of the UN system.
The Global Report is the integral part of the Global Plan of Action on trafficking in persons adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2010 on the initiative of the Republic of Belarus.
The report is supposed to promote the comprehensive study of trafficking in persons and working out effective strategies of struggling against this problem.
The report contains statistics database on trafficking in persons and the information on the measure taken by the countries to combat against it. The report will be published every two years.
