Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Armenia held in Yerevan
02 November 2011On November 1, 2011 Yerevan hosted bilateral consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Armenia. The Belarusian delegation at the event was headed by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Igor Petrishenko. The Armenian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan.
During the talks the sides exchanged their views on the prospects of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Armenia in political, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as within the international organizations.
Active political dialogue between the leadership of Belarus and Armenia both at the bilateral level and within the multilateral events provides a significant impetus for the intensification of the relations between Belarus and Armenia.
The sides acknowledged a high level of the relations and positive dynamics of the development of partnership between Belarus and Armenia, including cooperation within the framework of such international organizations as the UN and the OSCE. They also noted the similarity of positions on many leading issues of the international agenda.
As it was mentioned during the meeting, an incentive for strengthening and expanding of the cooperation between Belarus and Armenia became the official visit of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Belarus and the talks with Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, which led to a number of agreements and signing of a set of documents aimed at intensification of the bilateral cooperation.
Within the framework of the consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Belarusian delegation met with Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, Co-Chairman of the Belarusian-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission Tigran Davtyan. The sides acknowledged the existing prospects for the expansion of foreign trade between the countries. First of all were considered the shipments of Belarusian agricultural equipment and machine-building industry products to Armenia, and the deliveries of traditional products made in Armenia to Belarus: cognac and cognac spirits, wine and wine materials, juice and fruit puree.
