First Preparatory Meeting of the 20th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum Held in Vienna

On February, 6-7 Vienna hosts the first preparatory meeting of the 20th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum with focus on “Promoting Security and Stability through Good Governance”.

The delegation of the Republic of Belarus, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Austria, Permanent Representative of Belarus to international organizations in Vienna Valery Voronetsky, takes part in the event. The delegation also includes representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of the State Control Committee of Belarus.

The agenda of the first preparatory meeting of 2012 OSCE Economic Forum, which is dedicated to the problems of money laundering and financing of terrorism, includes such issues as capacity building, risk assessment, domestic interagency cooperation, external information exchange, cooperation of the public and private sector, etc.

In the course of plenary meeting V.Voronetsky in his address stressed the importance of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum as an effective instrument of interaction and cooperation development between the member states on the most important economic and environmental security issues.

The head of the Belarusian delegation noted that the Republic of Belarus considers the issues of combat against money laundering and terrorism financing as the most urgent ones and is consistently improving legislation and mechanisms in this sphere, including through progressive introduction of the relevant international standards.
