On Belarus-Austria Consultations

On June 6, 2013 the Consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Austria took place in Vienna.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by Mr.Valery Kurdziukou, Head of the Europe Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, the Austrian — by H.E. Ambassador Dr.Heidemaria Gürer, Head of the Department for Eastern Europe, Western Balkans, South Caucasus, Central Asia and Central European Initiative of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria.

During the negotiations the parties discussed the issues of bilateral political and economic relations, cooperation in culture and education, the development of the legal framework and interaction in humanitarian sphere.

The Austrian side informed on sending the diplomatic representative of the Foreign Ministry of Austria to Minsk in autumn 2013 to work on a permanent basis to further develop bilateral cooperation in the spheres of mutual interest.

The parties agreed to resume the functioning of Belarus-Austria Intergovernmental Committee on trade and economic cooperation and hold the regular session in the first quarter of 2014.

The sides exchanged information on interaction with the neighbouring countries, discussed the issues of cooperation within all-European structures and international organizations.

The participants of the consultations agreed to develop working contacts between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, including by means of holding issue-related consultations on interaction within the CEI during the Austria’s chairmanship in the organization in 2014.
