Minister Martynov visits Armenia

On April 16-17, 2012 Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov is on an official visit to Armenia.
Minister Martynov held a meeting with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. The issues of bilateral relations, trade, economic and interregional cooperation, cooperation in international organizations were discussed during the meeting.
Foreign Minister of Belarus met with Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan. The sides discussed the key aspects of bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, humanitarian spheres, a number of issues of the regional and international agenda as well as the fulfillment of previously reached agreements in the economic sphere.
Sergei Martynov also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Eduard Nalbandyan. Foreign Ministers discussed the prospects of bilateral relations as well as issues of bilateral cooperation within international organizations, primarily the UN, the OSCE and the CIS.
The sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to develop partnership between Belarus and Armenia through the intensification of political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, enhancing ties in the humanitarian and other fields.
On April 17, Sergei Martynov met with Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. The sides affirmed friendly nature of relations between the Belarusian and Armenian peoples. S.Martynov conveyed the congratulations on the occasion of Easter from the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
Minister Martynov met also with the heads of Armenian Jewelry and Diamond companies and discussed the possibilities of boosting cooperation with Gomel Kristall PA.
During the visit of S.Martynov to Armenia the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Belarusian Ministry of Finance and Armenian Ministry of Economy in the jewelry industry was signed.
Foreign Minister also visited the Armenian-Belarusian Trade House Ar-Be Ltd. and met with the head of the company. During the meeting the sides discussed prospects of maximizing opportunities of the trading house to intensify deliveries of Belarusian goods to the Armenian market.
Note: The Ar-Be Armenia-Belarus trading house opened in Yerevan in 2010. In 2011 the export of Belarusian products to Ar-Be made $7.1 million (about 26.5% of total exports to Armenia). In January-March 2012 the export to Ar-Be stood at $1.1 million. The trading house concluded 99 long-term contracts with Belarusian companies.
As of April 2012, Ar-Be offered over 12,000 names of products and is constantly working to expand the assortment. It runs a permanent exhibition-fair of Belarusian farm machines.
