The Belarusian delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik visits the South-African Republic

On October, 26-28 the Belarusian delegation headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik visited the South African Republic.

During the visit the delegation participated in political consultations with South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ebrahim Ebrahim, the second session of the Joint Belarus – South Africa Committee on trade and economic cooperation and in the meeting with the representatives of the South African business circles.

  

Within the consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs the parties discussed a wide scope of topical issues on the bilateral relations including the prospects development of the political dialogue, of trade and economic cooperation and the improvement of the legal base. The sides also exchanged ideas on the most vital issues on the international agenda and on the cooperation between Belarus and the South Africa within the international organizations.

The participants of the Joint Belarus – South Africa Committee on trade and economic cooperation paid special attention to finding new forms and methods of cooperation with the aim of expanding bilateral trade. In this context they reviewed the prospects of cooperation in the sphere of industrial production, agriculture, science, technology and education.

In particular, the parties discussed the possibility of creating the assembly plants for automobiles and tractors in the South Africa and confirmed their interest in promoting the exchange of business delegations of the countries. Significant attention was also paid to the issues of developing the legal base of the trade and economic cooperation.

A presentation of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange was made during the session. The trading platforms of this market are viewed by both countries as an opportunity for increasing the bilateral trade between the countries.

As the outcomes of the session the sides have signed the Protocol determining the main directions for the development of the bilateral cooperation in the nearest future.
