Vladimir Makei meets with Ecuadorian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration Policy

On October 24, 2012 the Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei met with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration Policy of the Republic of Ecuador, Dr. Marco Albuja Martinez.

Belarusian-Ecuadorian foreign ministerial consultations held in Minsk on the same day. The Belarusian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik. During the meeting the sides discussed the areas of both bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the ways of enhancing political dialogue and strengthening trade and economic cooperation.

The ecuadorian guests visited Amkodor, Management Company of the Holding Company Belkommunmash and the Minsk Arena sports facility.

Over the past five years, the mutual trade between Belarus and Ecuador doubled to total $47 million in 2011 (up 21.7% from 2010). In January-August 2012, the trade was $8.8 million. Belarusian exports reached $1.2 million (stranded wire, potash fertilizers and synthetic filament tow). Imports from Ecuador made up $7.6 million (bananas, flowers, and seafood).
