Forth Conference to Review the Operation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe
29 September 2011On September 29 Vienna hosts the Fourth Conference to Review the Operation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), which is organized every five years.
The official delegation of Belarus headed by Alexander Sychev, the Permanent Representative of Belarus in Vienna, will participate in the conference.
The Republic of Belarus considers the Treaty to be the only pan-European legally binding document in the field of conventional arms control and confidence and security building measures.
The Belarusian side advocates for preservation and strengthening of the conventional arms control regime, including the option of developing a new comprehensive agreement on the basis of the existing Treaty.
Belarus calls on the CFE Treaty Member States to make every effort to overcome the existing political differences and to find ways out of the protracted long-term crisis for the conventional arms control regime.
