On May 27, 2013 Mr.Alexander Ostrovsky, the Head of the Consul Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr.Igor Leshchenya, the Head of the Division for Africa and Middle East, met with Mr.Iosif Shagal, Ambassador of Israel to Belarus.

During the meeting the representatives of the Belarus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed a note with the proposal to prepare for signing the Agreement on short-term (30 days) visa-free travels of citizens of the two countries.

The initiative on mutual visa abolition for the citizens of Belarus and Israel was voiced during the address of Mr.Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus, to the Belarusian nation and the National Assembly on April 19, 2013. The Ministry of  Foreign Affairs and the involved governmental agencies were encharged with the task to work on it.

Mutual visa abolition will make our country more open for the citizens of Israel and will allow the Belarusians to travel to holy place and visit relatives. It will also help to develop tourism and business contacts between the two countries.
