On the Sessions of the CSTO Foreign Ministers’ Council and the CIS Foreign Ministers' Council

On April 3 – 4, 2014 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Mr.Vladimir Makei will visit Moscow to take part in the session of Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The participants of the session of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers plan to discuss the current situation in the area of responsibility of the Organization, as well as a number of issues related to improvement of the mechanism of foreign policy coordination and cooperation development of the state members of the Organization on control of modern threats. The parties plan to sign a number of pre-agreed documents.

The agenda of the
session of CIS Council of Foreign Ministers includes 17 issues. In particular, the sides will discuss the implementation of Program of multilevel consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2013 and 2014.

The parties plan to adopt decisions related to mitigation of natural and man-made emergency consequences, as well as rendering technical assistance to Tajikistan in order to intensify security control of the Tajik-Afghan border.

The sides will consider such issues as cooperation of law enforcement authorities and expansion of integration ties between the state members of the CIS in the spheres of defense, health protection, education and sport.
