Mr.Vladimir Makei: We have just held the session of the Foreign Ministers’ Council. As you know this year Belarus presides in the CIS. For us the Commonwealth of Independent States is the organization that has real prospects for development.

Belarus’ approach implies that in spite of the possible differencies in foreign policy, foreign economic priorities of separate countries the Commonwealth of Independent States must remain the platform for the discussions, exchange of experience and fruitful trade and economic interaction, as well as cooperation in the humanitarian and law enforcement spheres.

Today we have considered the issues that concern this areas.

We presided in the CIS under the slogan “Integration for the Benefit of Mankind”. And I think that the decisions adopted today are aimed at each single person. They include the decisions concerning struggling against crime, drug trafficking, trafficking in persons and a number of other decisions.

One of the very important decisions was the one concerning providing support to the veterans who won the Great Patriotic War. The decision was made to declare 2015 the year of veterans of the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945, as well as create awards dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The session proceeded in the constructive atmosphere. All the decisions were adopted mostly without any qualifications. It shows that our organization — the Commonwealth of Independent States — has real, specified prospects and the future.
