On the Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Latvia

On November 28, 2012 a new round of consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Latvia will take place. The Belarusian delegation will be headed by Ms.Elena Kupchina,  Deputy Foreign Minister, the Latvian — by Mr.Andris Teikmanis, State Secretary.
 
During the consultations the issues of bilateral relations will be discussed, including political dialogue, trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation, improvement of the legal framework, Belarusian-Latvian cooperation in international organizations as well as the state of Belarus-EU dialogue. The parties will exchange views on important issues of international policy and relations with third countries.
 
For reference: Latvia is an important economic partner of Belarus: by the end of 2011 Latvia  took the second place in the volume of export to countries outside the CIS.
 
In 2011the volume of trade with Latvia was 3.2 times as in 2010 and amounted to $ 3 266.6 million, export -  3.4 times ($ 3 150.8 million), import – 1.2 times ($ 115.8 million).
 
During the first 9 months of 2012, if compared to the same period of 2011, the sales increased 1.3 times ($ 3 186.2 million), export — 1.4 times ($ 3 079.8 million), import – by 19.4% ($ 106.4 million). The balance of trade was positive in the amount of $ 2 973.5 million.
