Ministerial Meeting of the of Non-Aligned Movement Took Place in Doha

On February 12-14, Doha (the State of Qatar) hosted the Third Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on the Advancement of Women. The representatives of the 82 NAM member states and a number of countries and organizations, having the observer status, took part in the meeting.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in the United Arab Emirates Alexandr Semeshko headed the Belarusian delegation.

During the meeting the head of the Belarusian delegation stressed in his address the efforts of Belarus in achieving gender equality and empowerment of women. Mr.Semeshko noted the Belarusian initiatives in creating Global Partnership Against Slavery and Trafficking in Human Beings in the 21st century.

As a result of the Ministerial Meeting the NAM member states adopted the Doha Declaration and the program of action that suggest a number of measures on the advancement of women in the modern world by means of introducing equal access to education and decision-making, by improving health care standards, guaranteeing economic rights and protecting women from violence.
