On the 37th Session of UNESCO General Conference

On November 5 – 20, 2013 the 37^th session of UNESCO General Conference takes place in Paris.

The Belarusian delegation is headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France, Permanent Representative of Belarus to UNESCO Mr.Pavel Latushko.

The key issues to be discussed during the General Conference include the adoption of the four-year plan and budget (for 2014-2017) and medium term strategy of the Organization till 2021.

The agenda includes the issues of UNESCO participation in working out the agenda in the sphere of development for the period after 2015. The discussion on the access to information and knowledge, ethics of the information society and confidentiality on the Internet will take place.

The elections to the Executive Council and other UNESCO bodies will also take place. The participants of the forum are to elect UNESCO Director General.

During the General Conference the 19^th session of the General Assembly of the countries-members of the Convention 1972 on the conservation of the world’s cultural and nature heritage will be held.
