Statement by the Press Service of the Foreign Ministry in connection with the UN Security Council's emergency meeting

Belarus shares the approaches of Russia, China and Algeria, which supported the submission of the issue of Hamas political wing leader's assassination to the UN Security Council's emergency meeting held on 31 July 2024.

Unfortunately, the refusal of certain members of the Security Council to support the adoption of a statement assessing this political assassination nullifies the efforts of international mediators to defuse the situation in the Middle East, threatens the region with another round of dangerous escalation and moves further away the prospects for resolving the conflict in Gaza, which claims dozens and hundreds of lives every day, including innocent civilians and children.

The Belarusian side continues to insist that the establishment of peace and stability in the long-suffering Middle East region is possible only as a result of targeted diplomatic efforts by all parties involved to achieve a fair settlement.
