On the Visit of the Belarusian Parliamentary Delegation to Strasbourg

On June 26-27, 2013 the Belarusian Parliamentary delegation was on a visit to Strasbourg. The Delegation included Mr.Nikolai Samoseiko, the Chairman of the Permanent Commission on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives and Mr.Alexander Zozuli, Chairman of the House of Representatives Permanent Committee on State Construction, Local Self-administration and Regulation.

On June 26 the Belarusian deputies met with Mr.Jean-Claude Mignon, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

During the meeting the parties exchanged views on the state and prospects of the dialogue between the National Assembly and PACE.

During the meetings with the Heads of the Russian, Ukrainian, Azerbaijanian delegations the sides considered the issue of bilateral interaction within the Parliamentary Assembly. 

Mr.Nikolai Samoseiko held negotiations with Mr.Alexander Hessel, Council of Europe Director for political issues.

On June 27 the representatives of the National Assembly took part in the session of the PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy. The Belarusian delegation presented its stand on current issues of interaction between Belarus and the Council of Europe, offered its vision of building constructive parliamentary dialogue with this international organization.

In the course of the discussion the members of Parliament answered the questions of the PACE members on the situation in Belarus and the work of the National Assembly on promoting reforms in various areas of social life.
 
At the end of the meeting, members of the Belarusian Parliament met with the newly appointed Chairman of the Political Affairs Committee Mr.Bjorn von Sydow (Sweden), and discussed further contacts between the National Assembly and PACE.
