In regard to the citizen of the Republic of Poland Ms.Teresa Strzelec

Comments of the First secretary of the Press service of the Department of Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Mr.Yuri Kulabuhov.

 “Yes, indeed, today was made a decision to lift the restriction to leave Belarus from the Polish citizen Ms.Teresa Strzelec. By this decision the Belarusian side, being guided by humane considerations, made a goodwill gesture.

At the same time we would like to draw attention to the following.

The deeds of Ms.Teresa Strzelec were a blatant violation of the customs laws. It is a purely legal issue. This, by the way, does not deny the Polish side.

Therefore, we are bewildered by attempts of Polish mass media to highlight this legal issue from a political angle. It seems to us that other motives drive these media attacks instead of the destiny of their compatriot.

By the way, in order to avoid such situations, the Belarusian side has repeatedly offered to negotiate bilateral treaties between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Poland in the prevention of violations of customs laws, including the recognition and enforcement of administrative and judicial decisions in customs matters.

But these proposals have been left without a response from the Polish side”.
