Consultations between Belarusian and Armenian Ministries of Foreign Affairs to take place in Yerevan

On March 15-16, 2012 Yerevan (Armenia) will host the consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Armenia on the level of the heads of departments. The Belarusian side on the event will be represented by the head of the Department for Bilateral Relations with the Countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nikolai Demchuk and the head of the Department of Information – Press-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrei Savinykh.

The participants of the consultations will discuss the issues of consolidating the cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, the issues of regional cooperation and cooperation in the sphere of informational support of foreign policy activities.

Note: In 2011 the exports of Belarusian products to Armenia made up US$26.8 million (a 36.4 percent decrease). Imports amounted to $5.6 million (increased by 8.7 per cent). The balance of trade is positive ($21.2 million).

Principal Belarusian export items in trade with Armenia in 2011 included tires ($7.3 million), motor trucks ($2.3 million), condensed cream and milk ($1.8 million), medicines ($1 million), parts and accessories for cars and tractors ($0.8 million).

Imports form Armenia in 2011 included spirits ($4.3 million), flinty soils ($0.3 million), medicines ($0.2 million), and tobacco goods ($0.2 million).

Proprietary distribution network of Belarusian enterprises (more than 25 entities) has been formed in Armenia. Three enterprises with Belarusian capital were established: ZAO Trading House BelAr, OOO BelAZ Kavkaz Trans Service and OOO Armenian-Belarusian Trading House Ar-Be.

More than 10 thousand Belarusian products are sold in the Trading House Ar-Be.

US$ 8.4 million of direct foreign investment was attracted from Armenia in 2011.
