Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik Visited Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

On January, 17 – 18, 2011 the Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Belarusian diplomat met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia (in the rank of Minister) His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic and Cultural Affairs Dr. Yousef Al Saadon, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abdullah Al-Obaid, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Dr. Ahmed Al Salem, the President and owner of Kingdom Holding company His Royal Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the CEO of the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) Muhammad Al-Madi and also with the Vice-President of Saudi Arabian Mining Company (MA'ADEN) Khalid Al Rowais.

In the course of negotiations the sides discussed the ways of intensification of the bilateral political dialog and cooperation in the international arena. The participants of the meeting considered the prospects of widening cooperation in the field of trade and investment, bilateral relations in the sphere of industry and agriculture, and the possibility of establishing contacts between the law-enforcement authorities of the two countries in order to oppose transnational crime, illegal migration and crime connected with trafficking in persons.

The parties reached the agreements on the creation of Intergovernmental Commission, which will deal with the whole complex of bilateral cooperation issues on the basis of General Agreement on Cooperation signed between the Republic of Belarus and Saudi Arabia in 2003.
