Belarusian delegation participates in the ministerial meeting of the Alliance of Civilizations Group of Friends

The ministerial meeting of the Alliance of Civilizations Group of Friends took place within the 66th session of the UN General Assembly on September 23. The Belarusian delegation at the meeting was headed by the Head of International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Pavlovich.

Representatives of 47 states and international organizations addressed the ministerial meeting. The participants discussed the main priorities for the future activities of the Alliance.

The issue of national efforts to combat religious and cultural intolerance was discussed during the meeting. Member states of the Alliance of Civilizations Group of Friends spoke in favor of building up the UN program activities in this area.

The representative of the Belarusian delegation has informed the meeting about the policy pursued in the country, aimed at maintaining intercultural and interreligious dialogue, and in this context drew attention to the Belarusian initiative on the Recognition of diversity of ways of progressive development.

Within the framework of the Belarusian initiatives in the UN on promoting the prosperity of future generations, V.Pavlovich called the Alliance of Civilizations to discuss mechanisms to support talented young people, and expressed willingness to cooperate more closely with the Alliance in this direction.
