Belarus joins Protocol to the Eurasian Patent Convention on the Protection of Industrial Designs

On 19 January 2022, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nation Office and other international organizations in Geneva Yury Ambrazevich met with WIPO Director General Daren Tang and deposited the instrument on Belarus accession to the Protocol to the Eurasian Patent Convention on the Protection of Industrial Designs.

Yury Ambrazevich emphasized that Belarus’ participation in regional conventions in the area of intellectual property is a practical step towards the development of an innovative environment and business climate in Belarus. Permanent Representative stressed positive dynamics of Belarus – WIPO cooperation aimed to improve the national legislation on IP matters and to promote innovation.

He thanked WIPO Director General for the technical and expert assistance rendered to Belarus in this direction.

Background information: The Protocol to the Eurasian Patent Convention (EAPC) on the Protection of Industrial Designs was adopted in Nur-Sultan on 9 September 2019. The document is aimed at developing a system for the protection of industrial designs in the EAPC member States and provides an opportunity to receive a single Eurasian patent for an industrial design, which will be valid on the territory of all countries to the Convention.
