Deputy Minister Sergei Aleinik Visited Cuba

On May 24-26 Belarusian delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik paid a working visit to Cuba. The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, as well as top executives from a number of Belarusian enterprises.

Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Cuba took place during the visit. Belarusian side on the consultations was headed by S.Aleinik, the Cuban side was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Dagoberto Rodriguez Barrera. The participants of the meeting reviewed a wide spectrum of bilateral cooperation issues and on coordination of position of the two states at international forums. The sides exchanged opinions on the trends of development of the states at the post-Soviet territory and in the Latin America.

S.Aleinik had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla. During the meeting the sides considered the key aspects of developing Belarus-Cuba political dialog and coordinated the main tasks for the nearest prospective.

On May 25 the Foreign Ministry of Cuba hosted a solemn ceremony of cancellation of the Cuban postal stamps, issued on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states.

Detailed discussion of the bilateral cooperation issues in trade and economic, science and technical cooperation took place during the meetings of S.Aleinik with the Minister of Agriculture of Cuba Gustavo Rodriguez Rollero, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Orlando Hernandez Guillén, First Deputy Minister of Transports Raul Perez Ramos, Deputy Minister of Health Marcia Cobas Ruíz, and visited the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Cuba.

The members of the Belarusian delegation met with the Cuban partners in the ministries of industry, construction, energy and mines, and with the top executives of foreign trade companies “Tecnoimport”, “Transimport”, “Quimimport”, “EIGT”.
