Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei Met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on September 19, 2012 within the framework of the visit of the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry to the Russian Federation.

The sides discussed in detail the state of Belarus — Russia relations in various fields, interaction of the two states in the integration structures on the post-Soviet space, prospects of the partnership between the Customs Union and third states, as well as current issues of the international agenda that involve the interests of Belarus and Russia.

The participants of the meeting expressed satisfaction with the process of implementation of the agreements reached within the visit of Sergey Lavrov to the Republic of Belarus on August 14-15, 2012.

During the talks the ministers defined further steps aimed at strengthening the Union relations between Belarus and Russia and at securing favorable external conditions for sustainable development of the two states.

The sides confirmed the readiness to continue to support each other in international organizations during the discussion of all range of agenda issues in order to defend and advance the interests of Belarus and Russia at the international arena.
