On the Session of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council

On December 4, 2012 the CIS Foreign Ministers met in Ashkhabad (Turkmenistan).
 
 
 
 
Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus took part in the meeting. The ministers of foreign affairs of the CIS approved the draft agreement on cooperation in environment protection, which was initiated by Belarus. 

The participants of the session approved the programme of cooperation in humanitarian sphere for 2013-2014, that is meant to become an instrument coordinating multilateral interaction in culture, education, science, information, communications, sport, health care and tourism. It is planned to organize more than 200 cultural events, which include the intergovernmental programme “Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth”, fora, conferences and competitions, and other events aimed at the development of eco-friendly culture as the year of 2013 is announced the year of environment protection.

During the visit to Turkmenistan Mr.Vladimir Makei met with the Heads of Foreign Ministries of Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Tadjikistan. The parties discussed issues of mutual interest.
