On the OSCE Security Review Conference

On June 19 – 20, 2013 the OSCE Annual Security Review Conference takes place in Vienna.

The Belarusian delegation that includes Mr.Vladimir Gerasimovich, Head of the Division for International Security and Arms Control of the MFA, and Mr.Valery Voronetsky, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the OSCE, takes part in the Conference.

The agenda of the Conference included the issues of cooperation in the security community formation within the “Helsinki+40” process, struggling against transnational threats and challenges, prevention of conflicts and crisis management. The parties will consider the issues of interaction in the renewal and modernization of agreements in the sphere of arms control and measures taken to build up confidence and security. The participants of the event will discuss security challenges that come from the territory of Afghanistan and the provision of assistance to the country and the surrounding area.

During the discussion within the Conference the Belarusian delegation underlined the necessity of building up the real security community in the OSCE region and spoke in favor of developing cooperation in the areas of priority. The Belarusian delegation drew attention to the potential of the OSCE in struggling against the collective security threats.
