On Belarus-Georgia Consultations on Consular Issues

On November 4, 2013 Belarus-Georgia consultations on consular issues regarding struggling against illegal migration took place in Minsk. The Belarusian delegation was headed by the Head of the Consular Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Mr.Igor Fisenko, the Georgian – by the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mr.Georgiy Tabatadze. The representatives of the Ministry of Interior and State Border Committee of Belarus, as well as the Ministry of Interior of Georgia, took part in the consultations.

The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Ms.Alena Kupchyna and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Belarus Mr.David Kotaria.

During the meeting the parties discussed the development of the migration situation, listened to the information from the frontier service and internal affairs bodies, considered the measure to be taken to struggle illegal migration, including transit migration.

The sides discussed the issues of the consular service functioning, including the priorities of the visa policy, protection of rights and interests of Belarusian and Georgian citizens, as well as some other issues.
