On the 5th Session of the Investment, Enterprise and Development Commission

On April 29 – May 3, 2013 the 5th session of the Investment, Enterprise and Development Commission of the UN Conference on Trade and Development took place in Geneva. The Commission was chaired by Mr.Mikhail Khvostov, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Division and other international organizations in Geneva.

Following the results of the work of the Commission, countries-members prepared and adopted coordinated conclusions on the approaches to the UN Conference on Trade and Development research and analytic work. The conclusions reflect the interests and needs of different groups of countries and outline priority areas of work for the Secretariat of the Organization. The Conclusions touch upon such issues, as entrepreneurship promotion to strengthen industrial potential, investments, innovations and technologies for development.

Belarus in the UN Conference on Trade and Development is in the group of the countries with economy in transition. The position of the group on the abovementioned issues is reflected in the coordinated conclusions regarding the results of the work of the Commission.

During the session the Secretariat of the Organization presented  reviews of
investment policy in separate countries. The parties considered the agenda of the forthcoming session of the Commission.
