Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Martynov Visits Laos

Official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Martynov to Laos began on June 13. This is a first visit of the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry to Vientiane in the history of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Laos.

S.Martynov held a meeting with the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Choummaly Sayasone, where the sides discussed the prospects of expanding contacts between the two states on the highest and high level. The leader of Laos expressed high degree of interest towards development of all-round cooperation with the Republic of Belarus.

During the talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith S.Martynov discussed a broad spectrum of bilateral cooperation issues. The Ministers also discussed the possibilities of advancing interaction within international organizations.

Finalizing the talks S.Martynov and T.Sisoulith signed Memorandum on bilateral consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Prospective directions for trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Laos were discussed at the meeting of S.Martynov with the Prime Minister of Laos Thongsing Thammavong.

Economic affairs and the possibilities for strengthening Belarus-Laos cooperation in humanitarian spheres were discussed during the meetings of the Foreign Minister of Belarus with the ministers of industry and commerce, transportation, education and sports, science and technologies.
