On the Participation of the Belarus Delegation in the Work of the 6th Committee of the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly

Belarusian delegation continues it’s participation in the work of the Sixth Committee of the 67-th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Deputy Director General of Directorate on Treaties and Legal Affairs of Belarusian Foreign Ministry Liudmila Tatarinovich on November 13, 2012, held a meeting with Chief of the Treaty Section of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs Gabriele Goettsche-Wanli on the margins of the session of the Sixth Committee.

During the meeting Belarusian diplomat expressed sincere appreciation of active participation of chief and staff of the Treaty Section in organization and conduct of the first Regional Workshop on Treaty Law and Practice, held in November 2011 in Minsk. The Parties agreed to continue the practice of conduct in Belarus joint events, including regional workshops, aimed to promote study, dissemination and wider appreciation of International Law.

Ms. Tatarinovich and Ms. Goettsche-Wanli discussed practical questions of registration of treaties by the UN Secretariat in accordance with Article 102 of the UN Charter.

Participants of the meeting also exchanged opinions on possibilities for students of Belarusian universities to participate in the internship program for the Office of Legal Affairs.
