On the Participation of Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, in the Conference

On May 17, 2013 Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, took part in the regional conference «The Middle-Income Countries Perspective on Sustainable Development in CIS, Eastern and Southern Europe».

Mr.Vladimir Makei delivered closing remarks. In his statement the Minister emphasized that the conference represents the first ever attempt in the world to integrate the two topics – that of middle-income countries with sustainable development. Mr.Vladimir Makei urged the conference’s participants to action in order to advance together the theme of middle-income countries on the global stage.

The conference was attended by around 100 participants representing 26 states, UN agencies (UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNECE, UNCTAD, UNIDO), secretariats of the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Commission, as well as national state and non-state institutions.
