Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik Visits China

On September 12-14, 2012 Beijing hosts political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and China at the level of the Deputy Ministers.

Belarusian delegation is headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik, the Chinese delegation is lead by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Cheng Guoping.

During the talks main attention will be paid to discussion of the dynamics and perspectives of bilateral relations, development of the political dialog.

The agenda items also include the issues of expansion of trade, credit and investment cooperation, elevating the status of Belarus in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Deputy Ministers will discuss the preparation process for the 13th meeting of Belarus — China commission on trade and economic cooperation and common actions on creation of the China-Belarus Industrial Park.

Sergei Aleinik is also expected to meet with the management of a number of Chinese companies, implementing investment projects in the Republic of Belarus with the help of Chinese loans.

Note: In 2011 the foreign trade between Belarus and China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) amounted to US$ 3 011.7 million (131 percent to 2010) with Belarusian exports of US$ 697.1 million (136 percent) and imports of US$ 2 314.6 million (130 percent). The trade balance is negative at the level of US$ 1,617.4 million.

In January-July of 2012 the foreign trade between Belarus and China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) amounted to US$ 1 521.6 million (97.2 percent to the same period of 2011) with Belarusian exports of US$ 364.7 million (93.5 percent) and imports of US$ 1 156.9 million (98.5 percent). The trade balance is negative (US$ 792.2 million).
