On the Visit of the Counter –Terrorism Committee of the UN Security Council to Belarus

On October 16, 2013 the meeting with the delegation of the Counter – Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate headed by the CTED Executive Director Mr.Jean-Paul Laborde took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

Mr.Alexander Mikhnevich, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, addressed the delegation with the welcome speech. The Belarusian diplomat marked that Belarus is the party to all fundamental universal treaties on struggling against global and regional terrorism, including within the CIS, CSTO and OSCE. Mr.Alexander Mikhnevich informed on the measures taken by Belarus in the sphere of struggling against terrorism, in particular the Concept of Struggling against terrorism in the Republic of Belarus.

The CTED delegation included the representatives of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, Interpol, CIS antiterrorist center, OSCE Secretariat and The Eurasian Group on combating money laundering and financing of terrorism.

Within the visit the CTED delegation is to hold meetings in the Belarusian Government and other state agencies responsible for struggling against terrorism.
