On the Visit of Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, to Brussels

On July 22, 2013 Mr.Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, took part in the ministerial meeting of the Eastern Partnership Initiative. High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Ms.Catherine Ashton, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Mr.Štefan Füle, Heads of Foreign Ministries of the countries – EU members and partner-states took part in the event.

In his speech Mr.Vladimir Makei confirmed fundamental approach of the Republic of Belarus to the development of relations with the European Union, underlined the necessity of developing interaction to fill multilateral and bilateral tracks of Eastern Partnership. The Head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs made concrete proposals to strengthen economic and business ties between the EU and the partners and to expand cooperation in transport, energy and customs infrastructure.

Within the visit Mr.Vladimir Makei held a number of meetings with the leadership of the European External Action Service, the European Commission, the Council of Europe and foreign ministers of a number of EU member states. During the meetings the parties discussed the current issues and the possibilities of developing Belarus-EU all-round cooperation.
