Minister of Foreign Affairs to Participate in Senior Advisory Group to UN Conference on Sustainable Development

On June 3-4, 2012 at the UN headquarters in New York the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Martynov will take part in the meeting of the Senior Advisory Group to the High-Level UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), that is scheduled for June 20-22, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

The goal of the Group's meeting is to provide competent and independent assessment of the Summit's final document. The Group includes 20 prominent internationally recognized public and state figures, representing various groups of countries.

The work of the Group is devoted to coordination of positions on ensuring global sustainable development in agreement with the principles of green economy and changes in the structure of international intergovernmental organizations.

Within the framework of the meeting S.Martynov is expected to meet with the UN Under-Secretary-General on Economic and Social Affairs Sha Zukang to exchange opinions on the state of the final stage of the negotiation process and on the approaches to the ways of ensuring sustainable development.
